"Dear Sisters and Brothers of America"
-a loud applause followed

For the world recognized the arrival of a man whom it was seeking for a long time. A man who could lead the whole world towards its goal without subjugating any race; without murdering any of the existing beliefs. That man, that message was needed and the world wouldn't have waited longer and the stage was set in the Parliament of Religion.

Referring to an old Indian story, Swami remarked in that very platform, "I am a Hindu. I am sitting in my own little well and thinking that the whole world is my little well. The Christian sits in his little well and thinks the whole world is his well. The Mohammedan sits in his little well and thinks that is the whole world. I have to thank you, the people of America for the great attempt you are making to break down the barriers of this little world of ours, and hope that, in the future, the Lord will help you to accomplish your purpose". He narrated the famous quote from the Bhagadvad Gita, "Whosoever comes to Me, through whatsoever form, I reach him; all men are struggling through paths which in the end lead to me."
The truth that was realized by the incarnation which came to fulfill, the great master Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa had found an ideal messenger in Sri Swami Vivekananda.

The parliament of religions without the message of Swami Vivekananda wouldnt have managed to live up to its name. From here that the world started to witness a great upsurge of Indian National Thought.

For a race which is as sublime as the Indian, For a land which is the holiest of the holy for people who are the noblest of the noble somebody was needed to tell the world the Indian race was not a dead slave race but the ideal of the human race. The truth discovered by the Indian seers and for which the people of the west are stretching forth their hands in eager anticipation consciously or unconsciously was to be given and there rose the mighty Swami Vivekananda.

In india too, in spite of its much boasted ancestry, the people had become weak. Atleast they had forgotten their own intrinsic divine nature. Men were forgotten that they were men, the heir apparents of the lord of the lords were ready to be ruled by each and every race that chose to walk over their prostrate bodies. The country was in the brinks of social destruction owing to the neglect of its masses and women. The degeneration had come. It was a pity that that a nation which is as spiritual as India couldn't build up a proper social structure. Mutual hatred, jealousy, arrant superstitions, slavery at the hands of the British had all but finished the race. India needed that great soul which can once again raise her back to her original glory; nay more glorious than ever. That ideal race of human beings was to be rejuvenated and there arose Swami Vivekananda.

Referring to his mission in life he remarked, "My mission in life can indeed be put into these words, To teach unto mankind, their divinity and how to manifest it in each of their actions"
