GREEN MYSURU PROJECT

(Free distribution of saplings in memory of Rev. Swami Sureshanandaji Maharaj)

ಪೂಜ್ಯ ಸ್ವಾಮಿ ಸುರೇಶಾನಂದಜಿ ಅವರ ಗೌರವಾರ್ಥ‍  ‘ಹಚ್ಚ ಹಸಿರ ಮೈಸೂರು ವಿವೇಕಪ್ರಭೆಯ ಮೈಸೂರು’

Sri Ramakrishna Ashrama, Mysuru, launched Green Mysuru Progaram the initiative with the motto “Mysuru Hasiragali, Viveka Namma Usiraagali”.  It has been initiated in the memory of late Revered Swami Sureshanandaji Maharaj, the former president of the Ashrama and an ardent lover of plants.

Under Haccha Hasiru Mysuru programme, the Ashrama had decided to distribute 25,000 plants saplings free of cost to the public nearly. Since the programme received the unprecedented response from the public, Ashrama continued its project and distributed freely 41,209 saplings to 6785 people from September 27 to the end of November 2020.  The saplings were distributed at four main locations: Sri Ramakrishna Ashrama, Sri Ramakrishna Vidyashala Yadavagiri, Vivekasmaraka on Narayanashastri Road, and Ramakrishna Vidyakendra at Ramakrishna Nagar from 10 a.m. to 12 noon and 3 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. on all days. The programme continued till the end of November.

To encourage people to read and understand the life and teachings of Sri Ramakrishna, Sri Sarada Devi and Swami Vivekananda, under Viveka Prabheya Mysuru programme, the Ashrama distributed freely the Viveka Prabha Kannada magazine and a book named Sphoorti, containing a brief outline of the life and teachings of Divine Trio. The Ashrama has conducted written examination and cash prizes of Rs. 6000, Rs.5000 and Rs.3000 along with many consolation prizes will be awarded to the toppers.

The Ashrama thus has involved itself in rendering humanitarian services in different fields such as spiritual, cultural, social, educational and literary services for the past ninety-five years. The Ashrama looks forward to continuing its service activities in these various fields.

Concluding Program:

The concluding function of the Green Mysuru Programme was held on 28 February 2021 at the Sabhangana of the Ashrama. Sri Rahul Agarwal, Divisional Railway Manager, Mysuru Division was the Chief Guest. Sri Shashi Kumar, Additional Commissioner, Mysuru City Corporation, was the Guest of 2 Honour. Swami Muktidananda, Adhyaksha, Mysuru Ashrama Chaired the function.

The winners of the Quiz Competition, (first, second and third along with 27 special prize winners) were given a Memento and Ashrama literature. 100 Volunteers who offered laudable services for 2 months were felicitated and were given books on Sri Sarada Devi and Hindu Dharma. 25 garden workers who worked relentlessly for the success of Green Mysuru Programme were honoured on the occasion.
