Viveka Shikshana

A SPECIAL SUPPORT AND FREE EDUCATION PROGRAM FOR POOR STUDENTS – ವಿವೇಕ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ (VIVEKA SHIKSHANA)

Swami Vivekananda was the first great Indian monk to realize and to point out that the main cause for the backwardness and downfall of our society was the neglect of the poor masses. He believed that one of the solutions to improve the situation was to provide the masses with good basic education.

In accordance with Swamiji’s message, Sri Ramakrishna Ashrama, Mysuru (estd 1925) launched in the year 2000, a special support free education programme targeting the school going youngsters living in the backward areas of the city. The objective of this socio-academic empowerment programme titled VIVEKA SHIKSHANA was to motivate the disadvantaged school going students with average/ below average academic achievements, and to boost confidence in them to feel that they too can be good achievers. One more primary intention of Viveka Shikshana was to inculcate in the youngsters of the economically challenged society to cultivate, at least, the rudimentary moral, ethical and cultural values in life that would ultimately make them grow as responsible citizens of society.
