Celebration of National Youth Day and Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav

• In the year 1985, the Government of India has declared 12 January, the birthday of Swami Vivkananda, as National Youth Day. Since then all the centers of the Ramamakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission have been celebrating the occasion through various programmes.

• The celebration of National Youth Day 2022 is special and it has been clubbed with the 75th anniversary celebration of the independence of India. This year marks the 75 anniversary of the independence of India. The Govt. of India has named this yearlong celebration as Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.

• Swami Vivekananda's contribution to India's freedom movement and in the regeneration of nationalism is immense. Sri Aurobindo, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and many other lustrious leaders of India's freedom movement were greatly influenced by Swamiji. On 14 August 1897, in the course of discussion, Bal Gangadhar Tilak sought Swamiji's blessings so that India gets freedom soon. In response, Swami Vivekananda predicted that India would be free in next 50 years and freedom will appear in an unexpected manner.
